What to wear?

Im going to Sri Lanka in April. We%26#39;re doing a tour the 1st week then staying at heritance ahungalla for the 2nd week and I was wondering what kind of clothes was appropriate to wear?

I know that when out I should hae shoulders etc covered up but when at beach resort is it ok to wear bikini, vest tops etc?

What to wear?

Hi there,

Yes for sure except (in star-class hotels) for dinner, then they appreciate a little more covering.

All the best,

Hi Alison...

For the touring part of your holiday you need some comfy and lightwieght clothing, and as you rightly say you should take care to cover in certain places, but your guide will advise on this.

For the hotel part, you are free to wear what you like ';within reason'; of course, during the day time, swimnwear, vest tops are ok,

In the restaurants:

Breakfsst : shorts, t shirts ect fine.

Lunch As above, swimwear not allowed though!, except in pool bar for snacks ect.

Dinner: Smart Casual is the hotel%26#39;s guide, so for guys, long attire, jeans trousers ect, t shirts ok, but not vests, for the ladies, skirts tops ect are fine, no need to dress up !, even in fine dining areas.

Hope this helps

Regards

Dave

Leaving for Heritance Ahungalla next week for 46 nights !, so see you there !

Cheers - thanks very much for the info :-)

I have been going to Sri Lanka for the last 15 year s and suggest when travelling around wear light breathable clothing.I have never encounted anywhere that you need to cover your shoulders apart from templesA Bikini is ok the only thing is topless is a no no.All the best Allen B.
