Blue Water/Trips and advice!!!?? - Leave Very Soon!

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice about what to do and see in Sri Lanka and any opinions on the Blue Water?

Is it best to use your card or use local currency, and is this best to get at the airport?

I%26#39;ve read a multi adapter is best, is this true?

Any advice appreciated.

Have you changed from Royal Palms to Blue Water?

Trips from Wadduwa are the same as trips from Kalutara.

Blue Water recent reviews are generally good:

Only larger shops and hotels accept payment by card. Payment in Sri Lankan Rupees is accepted everywhere.

It%26#39;s easiest to change at the airport as you will have to pass the bank counters on your way out. But all banks give the same rate.

Not sure about Blue Water, but hotels in Sri Lanka have a mix of 3-pin round plugs and 2-pin round plugs: I have only seen few 3-pin flat plugs. At most hotels you can borrow an adapter from the reception.

Thank you for your help. yes we have changed hotels!

We got back from the Blue Water hotel yesterday. We didn%26#39;t use our credit cards at all in Sri Lanka as we had heard that card fraud is a growing problem. We found it easy to change travellers cheques at the airport after going through customs on arrival. There is a row of banks all with the same exchange rate - 162 rupees to the pound when we were there. If you keep the receipt then you can change any unspent ones when you arrive back at the airport to come home, the hotel reception staff are not able to change any back into sterling for you. You cannot spend rupees in the airport shops. If you run out of rupees then sterling is accepted. We didn%26#39;t use our adapter as our appliances all plugged straight into the sockets OK.

Lots to see and do both north and south of Wadduwa. We went on trips with Rucci and would highly recommend using him. The prices are good and groups small. Send me a PM and I will give you his e-mail addresss. He%26#39;s a lovely young man and will look after you well.
