The Lion Rock Hotel in Sigiriya is a budget hotel and does not get flattering reviews on holidaycheck.

Hotel Serene Garden in Kandy is my favourite hotel in Kandy. New, clean and good food.

I stayed at Sunhill Hotel In N%26#39;Eliya some years ago. I called it Rainhill Hotel as it was raining during my whole stay (which I cut after 2 days), so that could influence my judgement. My room was small and the food was bad. It%26#39;s rated 10 out of 12 by TA based on 1 review.

Tissa Lakeside Tourist Inn is a basic budget guesthouse. Make sure you get an A/C room as you will need that in Tissa. It%26#39;s located east of A2 which at the moment is off limits according UK FCO, so check your travel insurance.

Besides money for fuel he may also ask for money to settle the hotel bills as you go.
