What is the food like?

We haven%26#39;t been to Sri Lanka before and I was just wondering what the food is like. My husband and I both loved the food in Goa and we were wondering if it is similar. We are booking AI at Club Palm Bay, so any comments on their food would be great. Thanks.

Hi Linda,

Can%26#39;t speak specific for Club Palm Bay, but most hotels in Sri Lanka have buffets for all meals when they have enough guests. Otherwise they will serve a set menu or a la carte.

Dinner buffet is often a theme night, e.g. Italian, Sri Lankan etc.

The main food in Sri Lanka is rice and curry which is usually watered down in tourist hotels. To get real hot and spicy curries you will have to visit a private home or local restaurant.

In hotels the food available is both eastern and western cuisine.

We have stayed at 2 hotels in Sri Lanka. We also ate out a few times. The food is different to Goa but still nice. In the hotels we stayed in we did have several curries so Hotels vairy in Sri lanka with some doing lots of theme nights, buffets, BBQ, all sorts of different things.

Hi as the others have said, Food caters in Hotels for ALL Tastes%26#39; and at all Meal sittings the choice always includes some Local Dishes.

Having been to both places Goa/Sri Lanka to be Honest the Food is very different aLthough still maybe called a Curry, it is Two VERY different types of dish.

I%26#39;m sure the Experts here will correct me but i think the Lighter the Curry the Hotter it is, and vice/versa or maybe it is the other way around, LOL.

I%26#39;m sure i do not ned to tell you try a little at each sitting and if you enjoy your choosen selection go up for more.

Getting out and about, will reward you with fantastic food, some so hot it will blow you socks off and you will find it very cheap.

Do not be put off with how a place may look, some of the best food i have had since we have been going has been served up in something that resembles nothing more than a partly fallen down lean too.

Best wishes
