Hi there...

STILL the warning exists to new visitors to Sri Lanka, you should ALWAYS get gems/jewels checked by the official Sri Lankan Government assessment centres for authenticity, i am not convinced that gems/ jewels can be worth as much as 4 times as were paid for them, simple maths regarding the world price for gold would seem to confirm this.

If a trader refuses this free service, then you should NOT buy, under ANY circumstances !

San Gems

Hi,

Hopefully, lollib%26#39;s UK valueation of the jewellery is correct and it%26#39;s a real bargain. I know there are bargains to be had although I agree with Dave in regards to the diference in price and valueation.

Although some people go home with real bargains, there are still many who go home only to find the stones are fake, the gold plating starts to peel from the ';'; Solid ';'; gold ring and basically, they%26#39;ve been had.

The National Gem and Jewellery Authority,

Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Exchange,

Level 4 and 5 , East Low Block,

World Trade Centre, Colombo.

They run a completely free service. They%26#39;ll examine the jewellery , metals ad stones and vouvh for them being authentic,, or not,, NO Charge.

Any jeweller selling goods to the value that lollib mentioned would happily attend the centre with a customer to obtain the validity certificate.

As Dave said,, if they won%26#39;t do that,, then walk away.

Rod,

Hi Laura

Like you I can whole heartedly recommend San Gems, I have been there twice now and purchased some beautiful jewellry that is sold certificated, and when I have brought the items home they have all been valued at far higher than what we had paid. The last item I had made was an 18ct Sapphire and diamond ring we paid £1800 and it has been valued at 4 times that, I cant wait to see Mohammed again this year to complete the set.

My sister in law also bought a diamond and sapphire cluster she paid £230 and it was valued at £750

Its a great place to do your Christmas shopping....

Kind Regards

Mo
