Hi,

I%26#39;m going to travel to Sri Lanka and Maldives for 2 weeks in a few months.

I%26#39;ll visit the Cultural Triangle and Kandy, but I%26#39;m a little concerned about the latest problems with the Tamils Tigers. I don%26#39;t know if i should cancel the trip or keep the reservation and pray for nothing happening during my stay.

Anyone can give information about the present situation?

Welcome to the Forum.

If it helps we have been going for many Years and as other People will say NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OR FELT SCARED.

WE are off for a Month sept and this time have opted to do some of our own booking and Travelling having gained confidence as we have been as i said,many times before.

I am as i reply, booking for January as well.

The normal advice is to steer clear from large groups and any possible Militry sites/areas.

Having come back in October we walked around and explored Colombo doing the opposite of what i have just said and felt safe.

I guess similar to the IRA when they tried to disrupt London Years ago if you give into the Bullying Cowards then maybe they Win some kind of Victory.

My ethos is to carry on whenever possible your normal life and not give into Bullys%26#39; or at least try to just get on with Life whenever possible.

Go visit and whilst easy for me to say i%26#39;m sure at some stage you will regret it if you do not go.

There is no prolem in the Culture triangle side. Some times problems may occur in Colombo or in other towns, but it not 100 % sure. As i know, there is no problem in Tourist Areas.
