Cancellation of First Choice Flights

We have today been into local FC travel agents regarding our Sri Lankan holiday in August this year. We have been informed that all flights to Sri Lanka up until September this year are being cancelled on a month to month basis. Consequently we have changed our holiday with no penalties. Been informed that if you care to wait they will offer you £50 compensation but by leaving it you run the risk of not getting the alternative holiday you want. Hope this helps.

Cancellation of First Choice Flights

Hi there...

I relayed all this news about First Choice/ Thompson to some good friends of mine in the hotel and tourism industry in Sri Lanka, they as yet have NOT been told about any cancellations by these companies, BUT are not suprised if true as they do not have a lot of faith in them !Quote: Not Reliable, and Bullying !

They will get back to me in a few days time with answers to this.

Regards

Dave

Try the Sri Lanka based ones such as Jetwing, or Reddot, or others you can find using Google or similar.

Seriously have a look at the other threads/topics on here (and elsewhere) about ';anybody other than First Choice or Thomsons';.

We have been told by first choice that our flight is fully booked for the dates and our holiday is not cancelled? we are going on 21st July...... well, we hope we are!

Hi dizzidancer,

Flight schedules on FC webpage say until 22nd April and again from 6th November.

That you can%26#39;t book on their webpage does not necessarily mean that the flight is full.

If I were you I would call their Pre Departure Advisory Team at 0871 664 9207.

Hans

Hi Dizzy

After recent posts i would take what they have told you with a HUGE pinch of salt !, you should do as Han%26#39;s has suggested and call them, and while on the line you should ask in WRITING what is promised over the phone, and also suggest that you are recording the call, i would very much doubt that July departures will take place.

Dave

Hi Dizzy

Having spoken to a friend that works in Sri Lanka they have benn told there will be no first choice flights during our summer to Sri Lanka.

Thanks

Maria

thanks I keep calling them but they insist that our holiday or flight is not cancelled and wont return our money - this is so upsetting ;-((

We wont change our holiday with them as this means they still get our money.

We keep getting told no flight but they are sorting it.

Feeling so worried but cant afford to lose over £500 in deposit

My friend, i think you will find that illegal under the sale of goods act.what you purchased was not what you got. blah blah.

county court sounds right to me.
