Kani Lanka watersports and trips to Galle and Colombo

Hi,

I%26#39;m off to the Kani Lanka soon and would be grateful if anyone knows the answers to (any of) these questions:

- How much does the hotel charge for watersports?

- Do they have rowing boats on the river?

- Approximately how far is it to Galle; and how much should I expect to pay for a car and driver to Galle, Colombo or the Pinnewala elephant orphanage?

I%26#39;ve searched through the forum but can%26#39;t find this information.

I don%26#39;t know how much they charge, but I can - if nobody got them - find out when I%26#39;m in Sri Lanka in a couple of days.

Distances: Galle 72 km, Colombo 43, Pinnawala about 130 km.

Car and driver: Galle LKR 6000, Colombo LKR 3500-4000, Pinnawala around LKR 10000. All for return trips.

It does not take 3 hours from Colombo city to Kalutara. The hours is probably the transfer time from Colombo Airport to Kani Lanka.

Colombo Airport is located 32 km north of Colombo city.

Traffic in Colombo city is terrible esp. at rush hour times, so the time it takes to cross the city is very much depending on the time of the day.

I do the trip Colombo Airport - Aluthgama (which is 17 km south of Kani Lanka) and vice versa 2-3 times a year (I will do again on Thursday morning).

Leaving the airport 9ish am the trip takes 3-3½ hours, but driving back about 10ish pm the trip takes about 2 hours.

hi we went kani lanka last year and going back in 9 days and counting canoes for river which if you paddle down river see scenery and villages not visible from road and cost is nothing if all inclusive, motor boat guide trip i seem to remember worked out about £10 for 4 of us and you see amazing things and also get to drive boat as for day trips really up to you to choose between tour operator or boys on beach we use boys but thats our decision and doesnt appeal to everybody hope you have good time as we did

Yes I was thinking of transfer time from the airport. I%26#39;m glad it%26#39;s quicker into the main city.

I%26#39;ll try the kayaks but will almost certainly end up hiring a motorboat instead!
