Full moon - Poya

We are going to Club Hotel Dolphin between March 12 to 25th, could anyone tell me if there will be a full moon during our stay, as we%26#39;ve been told NO alcohol will be served during the day of Poya

Full moon - Poya

Hi,

Full Moon Poya in March is on the 10th.

Yes you%26#39;re lucky! As usual I was invited to give talks at viharas during my stay there and the bhikshu had already told he could get a larger than usual audience that day. NOW I realise why :-((((

We%26#39;re looking to go to Club Dolphin on 1st June for 2 weeks and i%26#39;ve done a search for Poya Days and it looks like 7 Jun is a Full Moon Poya Day - i%26#39;ve seen from the Club Dolphin Fact Sheet that no alcohol will be served on that day - i take it this means all day and not just in the evening. Is it frowned upon to drink your own alcohol on a Poya Day? (We normally bring some from the airport on our way through)

Hi there..

It is ok to have a tipple in the priavcy of your room, could well be frowned upon if you are seen drinking outside in any public area.

Also, hotels ';usally'; serve alcohol via room service too, but if All Inclusive then maybe not part of your package.

Dave

Looks like there is also a full moon on 9th April.

Hi there....

Yes, also Poya Day on April 9th, day before Good Friday !, and part of a VERY long New Year%26#39;s holiday weekend in Sri Lanka, 6 days !

Regards

Dave
