Kuoni Soft Adventure Tour...what to wear!? Advice please

Hi there,

The basic route is Cultural Triangle - Kandy - Ratnapura - Haputale - Kitulgala - Colombo.

Haputale is the most %26#39;extreme%26#39; as daytime temperatures there can be as low as 10%26#39;. So a jumper or the like is helpful. However all of your overnight acco places will have a minimum NIGHTtime temperature of 15%26#39; and usually daytime upto 25-30%26#39;.

So the base clothing will be %26#39;tropical dress%26#39;: mainly cotton and linen (as this handles the high humidity much better) and also often slippers - though for e.g. the rafting indeed trainers are better.

From the tour description it doesn%26#39;t look like rough outdoor, so no special jungle-resistant clothing seems needed. Just light, see above. And take lots of mosquito precautions also, e.g. DEET-containing cream.

All the best,

Thanks for such a quick and helpful response! Just another few questions:

By slippers do you mean flip flops? I have the kind with a hard sole base so would they be good?

What factor sun cream should I take? I have quite olive skin so i tan quite easily but am very aware of the fact that I have winter/pale skin when i go...would factor 30 be ok in that heat?

Many Thanks

Pughy

Hi again Pughy,

Yep flipflops are okay and sandals too. I was not clear enough, I always use sandals myself because they give better grip for the toes but flipflops should be similar.

Yes, suncream factor 25-30 is around the minmum for a place like Lanka. Close to the equator...

Have a nice one,

Thanks Erik and Sanya. We will have a good time I am sure! can%26#39;t wait!

Hi Pughy

My fiance and I are thinking of booking this tour as part of a multi-centre with kuoni (going to maldives afterwards) for our honeymoon in december 2009. Would love to know what the soft adventure tour was like - did you enjoy it? any problems? how was the white water rafting?

hope to hear from you soon!

HI Londongirl

We had a fantastic time on this tour. The white water rafting is so much fun...it%26#39;s medium rapids so they%26#39;re not too scarey but enough to give you a buzz. The elephant back safari is unforgettable...we found our driver to be very polite and insightful. We also went to the maldives afterwards and found that it was a great combo! Enjoy, and please contact mke if you need any furthur info about this trip.
