Internet access at Bentota Beach hotel

Hi guys

as we are in SL for three weeks the daughter is suggesting we take a laptop with us and use skype to keep in touch with her . can you tell me if there is any problem in taking a laptop . and how expensive is the Internet access .

No problem taking a lap top with you, i do it all the time, Bentoa Beach Hotel however does not have Wi Fi internet there yet, a couple of other hotels in area does have this, they are Club Bentota, and Hotel Serendib.

Costs?, 20 hours access over 7 days is 1000 Rupees, this is by using a Dialog KIT card, hotel supplied cards are more expensive, but the KIT cards can be bought from may shops in the area, look out for the Red %26amp; Whits KIT signs in shops windows.

Thanks as always for the Intel . I have been onto Kuoni web site and they say there is Internet in the room I can assume that from what you say it will be a LAN Connection , is this going to be prohibitively expensive ,

Hi Paul,

The hotel%26#39;s website (cinnamonhotels.com/Bentota/BentotaBeach.htm) does mention internet access in the rooms but a cyber cafe.

If the hotel is too expensive there is an internet cafe just across the road. Internet cafes charge LKR 50-100/hour. Most have Skype installed, but if not ask them to install it.

I e mailed the hotel the reply is noticeable by it%26#39;s absence . I%26#39;ll do what you say i think use the Internet cafe and get a Si for a chipped mobile . dont really fancy lugging a laptop around .not only that work will be able to get me .

had a response from the hotel as followes .

We do have WIFI connection available in our superior rooms with no charge to the facility.
