How much rain should we expect to see in April, as it is rainy season? Anyone been in April, does it mainly rain at night?

Until mid April it is usually still the dry season.

I have been in Beruwala are in April for the last 14 years and going again on 18 March until 13 May.

First half of April: East monsoon so sunny, hot and dry weather. An occasional shower can occur or a slight drizzle.

Second half of April: Weather is getting a bit more unsettled. Mornings are bright and sunny, but clouds tend to build up during the afternoon and quite a few days end with a hefty thunder shower.

We are looking forward to our vist very much, it can not come fast enough.

We are hoping it will be safe to go north to visit the

Elephants at Pinnawela, the travel agents have advised

us not too, but we dont always do as we are told!

It is safe to visit Pinnawala. Your travel agent has not don his/her homework well.

UK FCO warns against travelling north of A12 (Puttalam-Trincomalee) and to the Eastern Province. Pinnawala is well clear of that.

You should also include Kandy in your trip and make it a 2 days tour.
