Hello could any one tell me if i have chosen the right locaction

I am looking for luxury accomadation in a area with other activities and sights to see.

I was thinking of staying at the fortress resort near galle

Yes reasonable. As long as you choose Half Board, closeby not much restaurants. It%26#39;s a good base for the wildlife parks, Kataragama, Galle town etc. etc. but for any serious inland Lankan sights NO beach resort alone suffices. A multi-day trip will be needed anyhow..

You have chosen the right resort for luxury. We stayed here for 10 night in November 2007 and are returning in Apr 2009. Its not cheap! The food is reasonably priced. Wine is expenses at about 拢25 a bottle.

Rooms are very nice as is the pool and beach.

Thank you for your reply does it justify to travel four hours from airport to reach the fotress and nearby attractions or how good it the jetwings beach hotel negombo and its attractions .

In my opinion it%26#39;s very well worth the 4 hour travel. Its a 49 room hotel with attention to detail. Its the little touches and the people who work there that make it special.

No experience of the other hotel or location, so cannot comment!

I forget to comment on th local attractions. When we stayed in November 2007 we used a local tuk tuk driver to take us to the sites, But we did not travel far it was to local attraction. The Tuk Tuk driver selected the attractions (after consultation with us) because of our lack of knowledge and he got it spot on. like the Turtle hatchery, Galle Fort, Herb Garden, Tea Plantation, local temples and travelled south to some very nice beaches. We also had a trip driving around the country side an villages which was very enlightening It helped to break the day up. We usually only did this trips around 3.00pm or 4.00 pm. Occassionally we ventured to Unawantuna and had an early evening drink at one of the local restaurants before returning to the fortress for Dinner.

Finally I am sure you will love the fortress, we did and both my wife and I have commented its the best hotel we have stayed in!! ( and we have traveled a little!)
