First Choice holiday cancelled

just received letter today, our holiday to sri lanka in april has been cancelled, they say due to lack of customers!!!! they have offered a poultry £50.00 per person to book an alternative but considering they have dropped costa rica, margarita and now sri lanka they can forget it who knows what next they will cancel. Will never book First Choice again.

We were in Margarita in October 2008 with First Choice and the flight was full! I think it is more to do with cost rather than numbers

We had our holiday with first choice to Margarita cancelled and we only found out through trip advisor.

We have now given them another chance and booked to go to sri lanka!

I have phoned them last week and they said our holiday was safe but after your comments I will be ringing them again tomorrow

for first choice you should read LAST choice you can still book though other operators ie Cosmos we have used them twice or Mercury direct

hi, just to let you know we called First Choice to ask if there were any other flights available, they told us they had cancelled our april holiday because they had no more flights after that date, they could get us out there but because they had no summer 2009 flights running they could not get us back, anyone with a 2009 summer holiday with them should be prepared for cancellation. We are now looking at alternatives with Mercury Direct. Good luck everyone.

What date in April were you due to travel. We are due to go on the 8th with first choice, and so far think we are still going.

hi, we were going on the 22nd April, they have given us an alternative now of the 8th april, which I believe is the last flight out. Hope this helps.

I relayed all this news about First Choice/ Thompson to some good friends of mine in the hotel and tourism industry in Sri Lanka, they as yet have NOT been told about any cancellations by these companies, BUT are not surprised if true as they do not have a lot of faith in them !Quote: Not Reliable, and Bullying !

They will get back to me in a few days time with answers to this.

try the Sri Lanka based ones such as Jetwing, or Reddot, or others you can find using Google or similar.

Seriously have a look at the other threads/topics on here (and elsewhere) about ';anybody other than First Choice or Thomsons';.

I dont know anything about no flights out after April , we are booked on 5th May from Gatwick and havent heard anything. Will be keeping our ears open.
