Tangerine hotel and weather in September

Can someone please help put my mind at rest...

We%26#39;ve booked a holiday with Thomson to the Tangerine Hotel in September of this year (last two weeks)

Is the hotel okay? been reading conflicting reviews....also whats the weather going to be like? is it worth changing to a later date?

Hope someone can help

Cheers

Steve

Tangerine hotel and weather in September

Hi Steve,

No experience with the hotel so cannot mediate between the different reviews ;-)

If anything, it%26#39;s safer to be in early September than in late and for sure avoid October-November! The 2nd intermonsoon can start anywhere between end Sept and end October and lasts 6-8 weeks, and is a bit unsettled period with more clouds than usual. However the west monsoon, from early-mid July to end-Sept-or-later, is quite a good time - sunny mornings and some clouds and brief showers from the afternoon onwards. So presumably your time of stay will be mostly okay.

All the best,

Hi Steve,

You booked with Thomson. Are you on a Thomson flight? Then better double check with Thomson. Thomson/First Choice have cancelled their flights to Sri Lanka (and other places) for the summer 2009. According to their website they will start flying to Sri Lanka from 6 November.

We are due to go on honeymoon on Aug 1st and certainly dont mind the odd shower but obviously dont want to find ourselves unable to go to the beach due to massive rain or clouds.

Does anyone have any views on this that could put my mind at rest or make me go elsewhere?

Thanks

Nono, YOUR time is safe. Read

So don%26#39;t worry. The only problem with west monsoon time, and actually all times except mid Dec to March, is that sea currents usually make the water too rough for swimming. Bathing will be fine.

All the best,

oh, do you think there is anywhere that we could still swim at that time of year?

We are not great swimmers but we do go in numerous times in a day as we love it (in fact I just made a posting asking for info on the best places to swim at that time of year in early aug)

Cheers,

Brian

Yes, better continue that discussion on the other place. And angle for experience from more frequent beach swimmers than us...

Tnx,

Hi

We were at the tangerine in the first week of October 2008. Everyone said that the weather had been great for the last three weeks. So you should be just fine, however the sea was quite rough, my husband is a strong swimmer and he did swim but I stayed where my feet could still touch the bottom. As for the hotel there were no problems, food was fine and it was clean.

Please Email for further tips and help.

We loved Sri Lanka and are returning in April.Don%26#39;t let some reviews put you off, it is a value for money resort and this leaves you with money to do trips and see more of the island.
