staying in colombo. single female. any recommendations

hi there

im looking for somewhere to stay in colombo for about 4 nights

i%26#39;ll be traveling alone. i%26#39;m not too worried as i travel alone a lot.

jut wondered if anyone had any decent accommodation recommendations for my first few days until i get to grips with the place.

i%26#39;m used to staying in hostels + b+b%26#39;s. im on a bit of a budget but dont mind spending a little more for a decent place in the city.

anyone got any do%26#39;s or definitely do not%26#39;s would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Until you get to grips with Colombo City or Sri Lanka?

Any special reasons why you want to stay in Colombo? It%26#39;s just another congested and polluted city.

There are plenty of cheap and decent accommodation in Negombo (20 minutes from the airport).

Hi,

In Fort, YMCA provides hostel type accommodation for reasonable prices. As mostly discussed in this forum traveling alone in Sri Lanka shouldn%26#39;t be a problem in Sri Lanka but use common sense when you traveling alone. When you book tours etc. always try to book them through a reputed tour company or through the hotel for you to be on the safe side.

i agree with hans negombo is much better if it suits you

when are you looking to travel to SL? I stayed in a small guest house in Dehiwela, which is roughly 20 minutes tuk tuk to central Columbo. It cost 2500 rupees per night and was a small room with a kitchenette, tv, air con and bathroom. The owner, Lucille and her staff were lovely hosts. They are sticklers for security around the place, however, Lucille was very gracious with her time and information.

If you%26#39;d like her email contact, email me and I%26#39;ll give you the details.

Regards

Sinhala
