Anyone been on a KUONI Sri Lanka tour? help please...

Good morning everyone

Me %26amp; my partner are about to book an escorted tour with KUONI but we are really struggling to choose with tour we should go for.

Particularly because we usually do not like being in escorted tours but given work committments this year we cannot afford to take more than 10-11 days off, so we do not want to have to organize anything.

I know Kuoni have a good reputation but has anyone been on one of their Sri Lanka escorted tours? how was it? which one? how many people do you have to tour with? is the food quality? any particular problems or highlights you%26#39;d like to share?

Thank you so much in advance for any tips, answers.

We did the wildlife tour with Kuoni in March last year. The tour itinerary was altered quite a lot due to FO advice about not being able to visit Yala and Udawalawe. We were informed about this prior to departure and we did consider cancelling as viewing wildlife was our main priority on the trip. So glad we decided to stick with it as we had a brilliant holiday. We were fortunate I think in that all of those who took part in the tour got on so well %26amp; we had such a good laugh. There were 16 of us in the group. Tour leader was excellent, extremely professional and being local was very knowledgeable %26amp; passionate about his country and keen to pass on his knowledge. Drivers excellent, everything very well organised. All of the hotels on the tour were excellent. We tended to have a big table for breakfast and dinner so all ate together. Food was buffet style and of very good quality. We travelled with 2 children 12,8 and they didnt go hungry! Also rest stops were all made at nice clean restaurants.

The tour you choose really depends on what you want to see but I would have no hesitation in recommending Kuoni.

The alternative would be to book with someone like Red Dot. They will organise everything for you %26amp; you can set your own itinerary. You would have your own car/driver and not be part of a tour group so might suit you better. We found tho that it was the sociability of being part of a group and the camaraderie which made the holiday such a success for us.

Our family did a tour with Kuoni last August. It was called the Ceylon Tour North I think, but it seems to be just a general Ceylon tour in this years brochure.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it- it was such a varied itinery. Our guide spoke good English and was such a knowlegable and funny guy. We did pay extra to have a private mini bus- really just so we all got a window seat.It wasn%26#39;t a great deal more to do this and we felt that it was worth it as we didn%26#39;t have to wait for others or if we wanted to do a detour that was fine too.

The hotels fine - some better than others but none dire! The food for most of the time was lovely- with a choice of Sri Lankan or western type.We would go again and recommend to others. If you would like any more info you can PM me,

Kuoni are excellent with the hotels generally being very good. We were in a group of 3 couples in total and had a great time.
