WE are looking to go to Sri lanka in the next month or so and I am struggling to find info on the various resorts to help me make my choice. We like smallish resorts but one that has some local restaurants / bars within walking distance so we can get out of the hotel in the evening.
Can anyone help us narrow down our choices? One we are considering is Galle?
We enjoyed Bo Phut and Ao Nang in Thailand and are looking for something with similar qualities - bit off main tourist track, local food etc.

Hi Lou,
Galle itself has no beaches to speak of, so better drop it from the list. The main beach areas with a %26#39;restaurant scene%26#39; are Unawatuna (close to Galle), Hikkaduwa, Bentota and Negombo. There are smaller zones with less tourism also, like Mirissa and Tangalle in the south, but then of course less choice in restaurants.
