Sorry another help request for DIY honeymoon

Hi there

Apologies I know there are lots of honeymoon threads for help - just want to get the best experience

I am looking to book flights this week for our honeymoon July 7th returning around 24th July.

The package holidays do not look as though they would do justice and are a little bit limiting and also very expensive.

I am after some help in best routes to include hill country where i understand the tea plantations and also the elephant orphanage and which key features to include in 4 or 5 days before then hitting the beach in Galle or wherever we would get best weather. Also I hear the sea is rough does that mean there would not be much opportunity for watersports or sailing as my fiance is very keen on this too.

i look forward to receiving any advice

many thanks

Hi there,

a) Weather should be fine during that time, typical west monsoon coming with nice sunny mornings. Best weather on south coast, so Unawatuna-Hambantota, but west coast should be good enough too.

b) A typical %26#39;southern loop%26#39; package is

* 2 nights Kandy

* 2 nights Haputale/Ella including a day visit to N%26#39;Eliya. Do note however that Eliya, the more boring town, does have better upmarket accomodation than Haputale/Ella

* 1 night near a safari park in the south (Udu Walawe or Yala), if you love a jeep safari too. Yala is tainted by a negative FCO advice but UW is safe.

* Sea will allow catamaran sailing with experienced skippers, sailing on your own not recommended during this season. Watersports like surfing would be possible on reef-sheltered bays like Polhena-Matara and Unawatuna.

All the best from sunny %26amp; hot Colombo,

%26lt;Erik%26gt; %26amp; [Sandya]
