Hi

We are off to Sri Lanka in the summer.Have heard it is a good place to get jewellery. Any tips on places to buy from. We wont be in Columbo at all but will be in Una so Galle nearby. We will also be near Kandy for a short while.

Also we would like to pick up some cheap clothing for myself, husband and 2 teenage boys. Is this easy to do-saves on the packing

Hi there,

The best gems (%26amp; gold/silver) in Galle are in the shops in the muslim area, northwest of the railway station. There%26#39;s 1-2 streets there literally lined with jewelry shops. Also you find a few at Sea Street which is the main shopping area, parallel to Matara road so east of the railway station.

Clothing I%26#39;d buy either in the malls opposite the bus stand or in Sea Street (shops and market stalls). Enough choice of western-style clothing also.
