A couple of questions

We will be travelling from Negombo to Habarana and wondered whether we would have time to stop off at the Pinewela Elephant orphanage or would it be better to do this as a side trip from Kandy?

1. How long does the Negombo to Habarana trip take with a stop off for lunch.

2. If we go from Kandy is it an all day trip. How long does it take to visit the orphanage.

Your help would be most appreciated.

Cheers

A couple of questions

Hi,

Negombo direct to Habarana is about 155 km. Via Pinnawala is about 20-25 km extra. Kandy to Pinnawala is 40-45 km. Whether you want to visit on the way to Habarana or from Kandy is down to you.

1. Driving direct will take 4-4陆 hours + 1 hour for lunch. Detour via Pinnawala will take about 1 hour plus the time you spend at the Elephant Orphanage.

2. It can be done as a 陆 day trip. Bottle feeding is at 9.15am and 1.15pm. The elephants are bathing in the river 10-12am an 2-4pm. The drive from/to Kandy is about 1 hour.

A couple of questions

Done it in half a day from Kandy last week. Best to be there for 10am to see the elephants in the river and escorted back to the orphanage. I would recommend you plan on being there until about 1.30pm before returning to Kandy. Good day out.

Thank you very much for your help

Cheers

Tania
