Colombo overnight stop

Hi Guys,

On my return from a trip to Maldives, Sri Lanka(Kandy) and Malaysia(KL) my flight will stop overnight in Colombo, landing at 15:35 on a Fri and departing at 13:15 next day.

Does anybody have an idea of where the transit hotels are and what I could do on this stop, I%26#39;d like to see Colombo city but not sure if its possible with location and time restraints.

Any suggestions appreciated, many thanks.

Colombo overnight stop

Hi there,

Main %26#39;official%26#39; transit hotels, all with a free shuttle, are within 3 km of the airport: Taj Airport Garden, Ramada Airport and Goodwood Plaza. Last one has bad reviews (and lowest price), other two seem quite okay.

All of these are more or less isolated, and your flight times more or less prohibit going to Colombo city or Pinawela Elephant Orphanage. So maybe it%26#39;s recommended to book a hotel or guesthouse in Negombo town itstead. About 6-8 km from airport (and you need to pay for transport, though not so much) and having a decent beach atmosphere, shops and some nightlife. Also enough attractions to spend the Sat morning with until say 10-11 AM...

All the best,

I should have mentioned that the transit hotel will be courtesy of Sri Lankan Air so I have no choice in which hotel they place us with. I will visit Pinnawela during my Kandy stay.

Any Idea which transit hotels Sri Lankan Air use? and how far they are from Colombo and Negombo?

Thanks

Hi there...

SriLankan use the Airport Garden regular, but of course no guarrantee that they would do on this occasion, maybe even mean going into Colombo city itslef is that one is full.

Dave

Thanks for the help on this post.

Having read your comments and studied a couple of maps I think its best to play it by ear.

If we%26#39;re placed closer to Negombo then that%26#39;s where we%26#39;ll go or if its Colombo then there we%26#39;ll head.

Am sure it%26#39;ll be fun either way!!

Many thanks
