Is it best to take sterling pounds or use a cash point to Sri Lanka to exchange for local currency. I%26#39;ve been told the USA dollar isnt excepted all over Sri Lanka

Bring pounds (change at banks) OR use an ATM. It%26#39;s useless to first change to dollars, and rupees are not really available outside the country.
