How far

Planning to do a six day Kandy South Tour then 8 days probably at Bentota/Beruwela organised tour with Cosmos.

We like to snorkle, how far is it to Hikkaduwa from these resorts for a day trip out and about how much will we have to pay to be taken then brought back later, any advise please.

Bentota to Hikkaduwa is about 40 km, Beruwala to Hikkaduwa about 43 km.

You can go by train for LKR 70/one-way. Note that not all trains stop at Bentota. Station in Beruwala is far from the hotels. Aluthgama is the main station in the area.

AC bus will cost about LKR 100/one-way. Just go to Galle Road and flag down a bus.

Going by tuk tuk should be less than LKR 2000 for the whole trip. Tell the driver to wait for you. For one-way hires you will have to pay slightly less but pay 2 times as you also pay for the empty return run.

A car/van for the day is about LKR 4000-4500.
