Been told by nurse that its not nessecary to take malaria tablets for the area, what are everybodys thoughts?

For Sri Lanka malaria tables are only necessary for overnight stays in the Cultural Triangle, Yala %26amp; Uda Walawe National Parks.

We%26#39;re travelling to Sri Lanka next week and the nurse at our GP surgery also said that malaria tablets not needed for beach holiday - moquito bite protection all that is necessary. According to her, the far north of the island would carry most risk.




I dont take them pills, Ive seen what they can do. Get some repelent with deet from Boots chemist and use it when going dusk. Also get some mosquito spray or a plug in for your room, Keep windows closed at night spray room when laving to go out if you decide on the spray.

I%26#39;ve been to the hotel a few times, and have always been advised by my gp%26#39;s practice nurse that malaria tablets are needed. After speaking with a number of other holiday makers while at the hotel, they%26#39;ve been advised the same, although some do not always take the advice
