Sri Lanka in June (Weather, Beach, Rental Car Options?)

Folks, I hope you can assist. We are looking to head out to Colombo, Kandy and then Bentota for 3 weeks in June.

1) Is this during the monsoon season? Meaning what will the weather generally be like? HOT? Rainy on most days?

2) I realize that this is not the best time to visit the west coast beaches (eg: bentota and Hikkaduwa), given the Monsoon weather patterns. Is it still worth spending a week at the beach? Will Bentota and Hikkaduwa be ghost towns in June with absolutely no tourists? I realize the seas might be rough (even though we%26#39;d have loved to snorkel and surf) but if there are tourists and the hotels have things planned, it might still be fun?

3) Lastly, I am looking to identify a local driver/car for 2 weeks. Is there a local agency with good prices that I can contact? Thanks!

1) Temperature in Lanka is roughly same year round, HOT indeed. June is not an optimal month, %26#39;first intermonsoon%26#39;; some days will be all-cloudy and unsettled whilst others will have mixtures of longer sunny and then cloudy-rainy periods.

2) Will still be enough spots open, though maybe 3-4 days is better than a full week to spend.

3) Agencies like Walkers Tours, Jetwing and Diethelm Tours should all be able to offer the usual price level based on Rs 35/km. Also individual freelance drivers are available, contact one of the Western DE%26#39;s for addresses etc.
