Hi,

The coral reef in Hikkaduwa is still recovering from the tsunami, but making good progress. Many tropicals fish and very often also turtles.

From Coral Gardens to Coral Beach hotels the reef i very close to the beach, so you can snorkel from the beach.

Is the sea quite calm on that beach as my husband is not a strong swimmer

Inside the reef the sea is usually calm. From May to November occasionally a bit rough.

Its better to snokel in the Morning. because in the evening the colour of the water change. There is a Reef and Coral Garden also. Before 8-10 years all the corals died. now all are growing. There are beautiful fish also.
