Using ATM's

Are there many ATM%26#39;s in and around the towns? Using them is my usual method of money exchange when I%26#39;m overseas. I%26#39;m going to be doing a Kuoni tour in June, so will be on the move a fair bit, but will be starting at the Mount Lavinia and finishing in Bentota Beach. All help and avice greatfully appreciated.

Cheers

Using ATM's

Hi P %26amp; S,

Yes for sure. Any midsize town has Sampath Bank and/or Commercial Bank and/or Hatton National Bank ATM%26#39;s, all of which are Cirrus/Maestro enabled.

Make sure that your bank does not block your card for fraud-sensitive countries like Lanka by telling them that you%26#39;re on the move there!

All the best,

Using ATM's

I called my bank and credit cards to let them know I was going to Sri Lanka and they STILL blocked my card and called me to let me know about the supposed fraud use while on holiday!!!!

It might be best to try and speak to the fraud dept and get them to update the computer systems as it cost me over 拢10 in phone charges when I was there just to get my cards working again!!

I%26#39;m writing this basking in 16 degree celsius sun in Devon wearing my Sri Lanka cricket top!!!

Thanks folks, I%26#39;ll be calling the bank nearer the time, and I%26#39;ll be sure to try the fraud dept.

I called my bank (fraud Dept) and they advised that Colombo is a high risk area for card fraud, if you are usuing your card it will be declined. They gave me a number to call to have it unblocked once declined. They are unable to stop this happening.

So if your using your card at ATM%26#39;s make sure you have your mobile phone with you and the appropriate telephone number.
