I am travelling with my husband and daughter beginning of August to Royal Palms, Kalutara, anyone have any idea of weather that time of year, I was told by Mercury Direct that August was a good time of year to go.
Also concerns regarding Sri-Lanka%26#39;s safety in South as BBC News reported on 18 June that travel all over Sri Lanka is now a threat and we wanted to travel out a little to a few sites of interest but dubious of doing so now.
Safety
Hi there,
Weather: yep, August is quite decent, %26#39;west monsoon%26#39; season which is 2nd best time of the year. Sunny mornings at least, some clouds starting in afternoon and the odd shower.
Would not worry about safety as long as you follow guidelines:
* Avoid Colombo as much as possible
* Use a driver. He%26#39;ll avoid any %26#39;risky%26#39; places like government buildings and convoys. And public transport generally is far more at risk than an individual car.
All the best,
%26lt;Erik%26gt; %26amp; [Sandya] - just back from another safe trip which even was 99% public transport-based...
