Rain, rain and more rain...

We are really excited about our trip to Sri Lanka (staying at The Fortress, Galle) in two weeks time. We have visited Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore so know what to expect in tropical climates i.e. heavy rain, humidity etc. However, I have looked on the internet and it seems to be constantly raining in Sri Lanka 鈥?is this really the case? Whilst we expected some heavy downpours, we also expected some nice sunshine in between. What is the real situation there?

Yes, can confirm - this was weather for last 10 days uptil my departure yesterday.

On the coast, the moment that the rains started was usually 5-6 PM. After 1-2 hours dry again. Inland (Kurunegala) sometimes 3 PM starting, these %26#39;early intermonsoon winds/rains%26#39; build up inland.

So not much to worry for tourists, the rain is quite unseasonal anyway and would normally start something like May.
