Weather Sri Lanka
Hi,
Weather in May is a bit unpredictable. First half is usually much better than second half when the inter monsoon season is starting.
Mornings are usually sunny with the occasional shower, but afternoons are more cloudy and 2 days out of 3 will have hefty thundershowers in the afternoon, evening and/or night. May is the wettest month on the west coast of Sri Lanka.
All resorts on the west coast including Kalutara requires multi day trips visit the main sights in the inland,i,e, Kandy, Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Dambulla) and the hill country.
For a 10 days stay I would recommend a 3 days/2 nights either
Northern Loop:
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Kandy (Tooth Temple, Cultural Show, Botanical Gardens)
Cultural Triangle
- Dambulla Rock Caves Temple
- Sigiriya Rock Fortress
- Minneriya National Park
- Polonnaruwa Ancient Capital
or
Southern Loop:
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Kandy (Tooth Temple, Cultural Show, Botanical Gardens)
Hill Country
- N%26#39;Eliya, Haputale, Ella
- Tea plantations %26amp; factories
- Waterfalls
Uda Walawe National Park
Hans
